Fleet of 16 Vessels Equipped with 600 to 2,000-Ton Cranes to Meet Demand for Transport of Wide-ranging Cargoes
"K" Line's newest vessels, Type 183s named "SVENJA" and "LONE," were completed in December 2010 and March 2011, respectively. The main features of these vessels are cranes with the world's highest capacity, able to lift freight up to 2,000 tons, and with navigation speed of up to 20 knots, the fastest of any heavy lifter. These features enable "K" Line to transport oversized freight that is becoming larger every year and to reduce transit time. Additionally, in response to the transport needs of ever-increasingly advanced offshore facilities, these two vessels are also equipped with dynamic positioning system (DPS), a system that automatically controls the ship's position by using propulsion units and enables cargo to load and unload even in deep-sea areas where it is quite difficult to keep vessel's position.
